Is your Independence safe?
We have field tested the unit for several years, with hundreds of units in place, no problems occurred. In fact, many of our testers have ordered additional units for other family members How long will your Independence last?
While we don't yet have enough years of actual use, we believe that the unit should last you 5 plus years of service. Remember, we give you a 5-year warranty. Will Medicare cover the costs of your Independence?
We cannot speak for Medicare, and Medicare will consider each situation on a case-by-case basis. However, others have negotiated with Medicare under the excerpt below... "Commode chair with seat lift mechanism (E0170, E0171) is covered if the patient has medical necessity for a commode and meets the coverage criteria for a seat lift mechanism (see DMERC Local Coverage Determination [LCD and Policy Article] on Seat Lift Mechanisms). However, a commode with seat lift mechanism is intended to allow the patient to walk after standing. If the patient can ambulate, he/she would rarely meet the coverage criterion for a commode. Therefore, if the patient is capable of walking from the bed to the bathroom, a KX modifier must not be added to the code for the commode with seat lift mechanism Will insurance cover the costs of your Independence?.
We cannot speak for insurance companies, however with a doctor's prescription for your Independence, other's have had insurance cover some portion of the costs. How easy is it to get on and off the Independence?
The seat assembly rises, but also pivots forward. This allows for a natural backing up and sitting down. You don't have to "climb up " on the seat. How difficult is the Independence to set up?
Your Independence installs in about 10 minutes. Simply remove your existing toilet seat (2 bolts) and replace it with your Independence frame. Tighten the bolts, place the pushrod into the lift cylinder and secure it with the "O" ring, then insert and secure the stabilizer arms with the tightener knobs. Place the hygienec splash guard in place. Plug in the cord and begin using Your Independence. How difficult is Your Independence to use? After my stroke, I have little or no use of my left hand.

The splash guard lifts out for easy cleaning. The rest of Your Independence is easily cleaned with a damp sponge, as you would normally clean your toilet. Are replacement parts available?
Parts are available. However, due to the construction methods and the high-grade materials (steel, plastics and powerful motor) we have not had to replace any parts. We do, however, provide a 5-year warranty, just for your convenience. I rent my home. Can Your Independence be moved?
Your Independence is completely portable. You can easily take it with you. You can even take it with you on vacation. We have one customer who spends his time between New York and Las Vegas. He carries Your Independence with him. I live in a Nursing home. Can I use Your Independence there?
We have many Nursing and care facilities who offer Your Independence to their residents. You should check with your particular facility to see if they provide Your Independence or will allow you to provide your own.
